The Mission of MECSD

The mission of MECSD is to promote innovations, enabling sustainable development in the Middle East. The world is challenged by a changing climate, biodiversity loss, abject poverty and environmental degradation. Sustainable development is the only way we can make a difference. The MECSD aims at promoting change towards sustainable development as a policy certification and research institution. Dedicated to effective communication of it’s findings, it will engage decision makers in the government, business, NGO’s and other sections in the development and implementation of policies that are simultaneously beneficial to the global economy, the global environment and the social well being in the Middle East. The Centre will enable guidelines, technical support and Green Certification within the reach of all interested parties that wish to progress on sustainable development projects in the region. The centre will address:

• Standardization and integration of Green Building requirements within Dubai World

• Establishing Local “Energy Efficiency” Certification Norms & Guidelines

• Enable roll-out of GREEN BUILDINGS or Energy efficient buildings

• Improve Resource Conservation Awareness within stakeholders through frequent interactions

The agenda of achieving sustainable development is an agenda for change therefore the challenge of achieving sustainable development means managing change on many fronts and many levels. It takes a new approach, new tools, new relationships and a new mind set to stay on the leading edge and this is the aim of Middle East Centre for Sustainable Development (MECSD)
